The River That Raised Me
The Tennessee River remembers more than I ever could.
It remembers the bruises I hid as a kid, the prayers I whispered without words, the nights I didn't think I would make it. It remembers the silence of a boy who didn't know how to speak yet, and the strength of a mother who kept fighting anyway.
I didn't grow up with a microphone in my hand.
I grew up with survival in my chest
Every time I walked past FAME, I felt the ghosts of legends whisper. But the river whispered louder. It told me storms don't last. It told me pain can be shaped. It told me God wasn't done with me.
I didn't know it then, but the river was teaching me how to rise.
Teaching me that scars don't disqualify you - they prepare you.
Teaching me that shame doesn't silence you - it sharpens you.
Teaching me that the places that break you early can build you later.
This blog is part of that building.
It's where I write the things the river taught me.
Where I speak the things that I used to bury.
Where I honor the Shoals that shaped me and the God who saved me.
If the music is the soundtrack,
this is the journal.
Welcome to the voice of the Shoals.
